There is no enrollment or registration fee at Tanoshii Japanese School. The textbooks used are the Marugoto Starter A1 Rikai and Katsudo books published by the Japan Foundation. You can purchase them yourself online through Japanese sellers or from us at a cost of $51 for the set of 2.
Please note that if you cannot make a lesson but notify us at least 24 hours before the lesson starts, then the payment for that lesson can be credited for a future lesson. If not so notified, the normal fee will apply to the missed lesson.
The curriculum is designed to provide very practical and useful Japanese language instruction in a very effective and fun way. If you have special needs, for example for an intensive course to prepare for a business trip or to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, we can arrange a special curriculum for you, so please contact us.
In the basic course at Tanoshii Japanese School in Mississauga we cover the Japanese writing system including Chinese characters (kanji), greetings, basic verbs and adjectives, asking for something, vocabulary and phrases for riding on subways and trains, common conversations about family, weather, etc., asking permission to do something, stating your opinion, talking about problems, vocabulary and phrases for visiting a friend's house, inviting someone to a movie, meal, etc. Students learn speaking, listening, writing and reading, but we concentrate on speaking and listening. If you are interested in taking further lessons beyond the basic course, please inform us. We can provide advanced curriculum for you.
At Tanoshii Japanese School in Mississauga, there are 2 weeks of winter holiday, 1 week of spring holiday and 10 weeks of summer holiday. There are no classes on Easter, Victoria Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving long weekends.
The size of each class is small. Other Japanese schools put many students in one class, but that is not the ideal way to learn Japanese. Since there are small numbers of students in each class in our Japanese school in Mississauga, the teacher can focus on each student and meet their individual needs. As well, each student has enough time and opportunity to think and answer questions in class. If you want to gain fluency and accuracy, you need to have many chances to communicate in Japanese. For this reason a small Japanese class is ideal.
The Mississauga classes of Tanoshii Japanese School in Mississauga are held at the Mississauga Central Public Library. It is easily accessible not only from Mississauga but from Toronto and Oakville. The Library is at 301 Burnhamthorpe Road West [view map], just west of Hurontario St and south of Square One at the corner of Burnhamthorpe Road and Duke of York Boulevard.
